Wet & Dry Rot

Dry rot is a timber destroying fungus that feeds on wood. This process leaves the timber in a dry and brittle state. It is caused when excessive moisture levels along with poor ventilation combine to produce ideal conditions for fungus to grow.

Timbers infected with dry rot will need to be removed and replaced, all our Repairs will be made to structural and decorative timber where possible. Before we replace any timbers it is essential that the source of the moisture is removed first.

After we carryout our timber treatments any retained timber will be treated with our fungicidal chemical spray to prevent any future rot growth.

Wet rot is a severe form of timber decay caused by fungal growth. Wet rot can be caused by water ingress into the property via cracks in the building fabric, burst pipes or damp conditions. Before we can treat Wet rot we must first find and remove the source of moisture. Once this has been identified and removed then we can begin to repair the damaged timber. Wet rot treatment will vary depending on the extent of the damage. Where possible our repairs will be made to structural and decorative timber. Any retained timber will be treated with our fungicidal chemical spray to prevent further rot growth.
